Farmers of Gold
Farmer of Gold (part of the Cora Blue Fund) is a project that we started 15 months ago for those in Rural Kenya, Africa. We are helping a small group of impoverished artisanal gold miners, including young women and men, who are risking their lives to earn a living in dangerous mining conditions.
Currently young mothers are contracting severe mercury poisoning and others are developing deadly lung disease, hearing loss and injuries from mine collapses.
Additionally the environment and local water supplies are being poisoned with cyanide and mercury from the current mining process.
Farmers of Gold is helping to provide some safety gear but also create a self sustaining system with the local miners. This system will allow safety training as well as the affordable purchase of safety gear and migrate towards safer mining methods.
We hope you will join us Saturday May 18 for wonderful 4 course meal and presentations about the great strides we are making for the artisan miners in Kenya.
Thank You so very much!
